Born in 1938 in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu. Graduated from the Govt. College of Arts and Crafts, Madras. He has held many solo shows in India and has several group shows to his credit including VI International Triennale, New Delhi, XIX Sao Paulo Biennale, Brazil, Indian Artists in Tokyo, Singapore, etc. He has received many awards at national and international level including the National Award in 1979 and Tamil Nadu Lalit Kala Akademi Award in 1965 and 1978. Adimoolam has made murals  for individuals and institutions in India and abroad. He was a commissioner for the IIIrd Ankara Biennale in Turkey. Has published a book of drawings “Between the Lines”. As part of the modern Tamil Writers Group, he has done illustrations, designed book covers and book layouts. He lived and worked in Chennai.
