Born in 1937. Done Diploma in Fine Arts (Sclupture), Govt. College of Arts & Crafts, Chennai. Balan Nambiar is a Painter, Sculptor, Enamellist, Photographer and a research scholar.
Participated in several Solo and Group Exhibitions since 1966 to 2006. Received Nehru Fellowship, Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund, New Delhi in 1983-1985, Senior Fellowship, Ministry of Human Resources, Education, Govt. of India in 1982-83, National Award for Sculpture, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi in 1981 and State Award for Sculpture, Lalitha Kala Academy, Karnataka in 1980.
Works are there in National Gallery of Modern Arts, New Delhi ( five outdoor sculptures and an enamel painting), Govt. Museum, Chennai, Govt. Museum, Bangalore, Govt.
