CSN Patnaik He was born in 1925 in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. He studied plastic and pictorial sensibilities where he was nurtured and shaped by D P Roy Choudhary and K C S Panickar. His sensibilities deeply rooted in the rural ambience of Andhra Pradesh, the theme and image of the woman dominate his works as he sees them as a metaphor of profound dignity in a life of poverty and hard work. Though Patnaik’s has always laid stress on technical virtuosity, craftsmanship and skill, what perhaps shines through is his unflinching humanity seen in the varies human conditions he portrays with sensitivity, consciously adopting an expansive expressive mode of depiction.
